The next Ravenstone Fete is on Sunday 9th June 2013

The first meeting to plan the event will be Tuesday 9th April at 8pm in the Village Hall,
Your inspiration and enthusiasm are greatly needed, hope you have time to get involved.

The Church now has a lovely new kichen,
and so we can all have a look (and maybe meet with friends for a chat at the same time), there is a coffee morning at 10.30 on the first Monday of each month, (except Bank Holidays).

The next few dates are:- 6th March, then as April and May are Bank Holidays, 3rd June, 1st July, 5th August, 2nd September, 7th October, 4th November and 2nd December
Put them in your diary, take a break from the Monday morning chores and catch up with friends or maybe meet some new ones.
Spread the word and help to make it a big success.
See you all there.

We are trying to get a faster Broadband connection for our area, so if you would like to join the campaign follow the link and register.

"You can help spread the word to your staff, clients and contacts based

THE ROYAL WEDDING STREET PARTY

Was a great success with an excellent attendance by villagers and friends and luckily no rain to contend with.

Thanks are due to the organisers

Debbie Saunders, Debbie Edgar or Annie MacGowan and their helpers.

Here are some photographs to show the spirit of the day.

In Autumn 2010 Annie Macgowan put out the call for volunteers to form a choir to perform at the annual Carol Service in All Saints Church at Christmas. Twenty three people accepted the challenge and after a few (wine fuelled, apparently) rehearsals, Annie, the choir mistress had whipped them in to shape and they duly performed on 18th December 2010 in the church. To hear some of their renditions, type in 'Carols from Ravenstone' on the 'YouTube' site or follow the link. The clip is about 9 mins long.

The Choir also performed at the Christmas service 2011 and if you would like to hear the beautiful singing there are two more clips on YouTube.

There are also some beautiful photographs taken by Keith Miller, of our pretty village covered in snow and looking very 'Christmassy'

Ravenstone Fete 2011 was held on the afternoon of Sunday 5th June
in the gardens of 'Ravenstone House'.
Below are some photographs which capture the spirit of the day.

Ravenstone Fete 2011

This years fete was held in the very pretty garden of Ravenstone House.

Stalls included White Elephant, Plants, Home Produce, Sweets, Books and the ever popular Cake Stall.

All the side shows and stalls were attractively arranged between the trees and water gardens.

Visitors chanced their luck with the Tombola, Bottle stall and the Raffle.

The Tea Garden provided refreshments and the Brass Band together with the sunshine helped to create the perfect fete experience.

Thanks to all who gave their support.

The Gate Group of parishes which includes Ravenstone, Stoke Goldington, Weston Underwood and Gayhurst, adjoins Olney on the west, is bounded on the north by Northamptonshire and on the south by the river Ouse. It has a population of about 220 and almost 100 houses.

The Village is 3 miles from Olney, 5 miles from Newport Pagnell and 12 - 15 miles from Northampton, Milton Keynes and Bedford.

There is evidence that a community was present as early as the 11th Century. The Church Tower was built in 1250 and was probably built to serve that community. An Augustinian Priory was founded about the same time.

In 1940 there were 9 farms, a Unionist Chapel, a village store/post office, a blacksmith, 2 pubs and the Church. Only the farms and the Church remain today.
